his eyes squarely on a sixth NASCAR championship, set the tone for what could be yet another dominating

AVONDALE, Ariz. Tyler Lockett Seahawks Jersey . — Jimmie Johnson, his eyes squarely on a sixth NASCAR championship, set the tone for what could be yet another dominating weekend in the desert by winning the pole at Phoenix International Raceway. He did it with a track record. The five-time NASCAR champion turned a lap of 139.222 mph in his Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet on Friday to break the mark of 138.766 set by Kyle Busch last November. “Track records are awesome,” Johnson said after Fridays qualifying session. “I dont qualify on pole all that often, so I take great pride in them, especially track records. Very cool to do, and clearly a great time in the season and a great time in the Chase.” Matt Kenseth, who trails Johnson by seven points in the standings, will start 14th Sunday in his Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota. He knows he has a lot of work ahead of him this weekend in making his car better, and then trying to catch Johnson on Sunday. “This track in the spring was extremely hard to pass at, probably one of the toughest tracks that we go to and I dont know if it will be any better or not this time,” Kenseth said. “Pit strategy was all basically the same the last time we were here. So, unless you have cautions fall funny, I dont know if youll be able to do it on pit strategy. I think youre going to have to have a good balance, good speed, you have to be able to pass, have to have good pit stops, all these things. “I dont feel its a track where youre going to get a whole bunch of free ones from a strategy call. I think youre going to have to be good all day.” Denny Hamlin qualified second with a lap at 139.023 for JGR, but he went out much later in Fridays session than teammate Kenseth. Joey Logano qualified third in a Penske Racing Ford, and Kyle Busch was fourth as both of Kenseths teammates out-qualified the title contender. Both Hamlin and Logano marveled at Johnsons performance. “Hes been in kill mode for a while,” Logano said. “When they are running for that championship, they find that extra notch that a lot of other teams cant find.” Johnson is coming off a dominating performance last week at Texas, where he led 255 of the 334 laps to win his sixth race of the season and break a tie with Kenseth in the standings. “Last week, I ran second to him for a while and just to see the speed in his car — and then he unloads today and you watch in practice how fast his car was,” Logano said. “Hes got that next notch and hes going really fast right now.” Hamlin, who lost the title to Johnson in 2010, said it was inevitable for Johnson to hit his stride. “Everyone in the garage knew they could turn it up at will, and this is typically the time of the year that they start doing that, especially when they are in championship contention,” Hamlin said, adding that Johnson would have to have an off day for Kenseth to have a shot at winning the title. “And when I say off, hes going to have to finish fifth or sixth to give Matt an honest shot at beating him,” Hamlin said. “You already know this weekend is pretty much crossed off as being an off weekend.” Johnson said he doesnt think the No. 48 team is doing anything different. “Its hard when you are inside of it, inside the car, inside the team, to know what the difference is, because we are doing the same stuff,” Johnson said. “But when I look around at what other champions do to do win, they always find a way to find a little more. Somehow we are doing that, yes, I recognize that, but its not a concerted effort. Its not something we are doing any differently. We are trying to rise up to the pace of (Kenseth) and beat him.” Derrick Coleman Womens Jersey .Y. – NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has upheld the 15-game suspension that was assessed to Boston Bruins forward Shawn Thornton for his actions in a game against Pittsburgh earlier this month. - Although Chicago and Los Angeles have won the last two Stanley Cup titles,

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. wholesale jerseys free shipping . – Although Chicago and Los Angeles have won the last two Stanley Cup titles, Matt Greene and his fellow Kings realize the Blackhawks have been superior whenever the two championship teams were on the ice together recently. Chicagos recent mastery of the Kings completely came apart in one crazy period, and the Blackhawks are headed to the West Coast to figure out how to get it back. When the teams return Saturday night for Game 3 of the Western Conference finals, the Kings hope to build on their five-goal third period in a 6-2 victory on Wednesday night, evening the series in dramatic fashion. Until Game 2, Chicago had beaten the Kings six straight times and in nine of the clubs last 10 meetings dating back to last seasons conference finals. The Blackhawks had been faster and more offensively creative than the Kings, but it all went away in a barrage of goals that set a distinctly different tone for Game 3. “Its been a series thats gone in their favour for the last couple of years now,” Greene said Thursday at the Kings training complex. “Weve got to do our best to change that. If we could put a finger on it, we would. But its up to us to figure it out and to keep it going and get some more wins. … I dont think they have a mental edge on us, no. Youve just got to go out and play.” Both teams essentially took Thursday off, gathering only for travel or a team meeting. While the Kings downplayed the importance of momentum from their win, the Blackhawks had an extra day to absorb the shock of their second four-goal defeat in the last six playoff games. “I woke up this morning way more angry than I exited the game,” Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said Thursday before the team flew to the West Coast. “Normally its the other way around. … A game like that is a game that should get your attention, and I think thats where were at.” Quenneville felt the loss was a significant setback for the Blackhawks only because of how it occurred. The two-time champion coach couldnt recall such an abrupt reversal of momentum against Chicago in any game this season. Quenneville thought his team essentially played a perfect game for the first 38 minutes, taking a 2-0 lead before it all fell apart with Los Angeles first goal. The Blackhawks arent a team that falls apart, but the Kings have a way of making opponents do things they never imagined under playoff pressure. “I think it was probably a little bit of a shock to us all,” Chicago defenceman Nick Leddy said. “But thats how playoffs are.” The Kings feel it wasnt just momentum that gave them home-ice advantage in this series. Los Angeles had been making strides against the defending champions for months, and coach Darryl Sutter thought his team played much better in its series-opening defeat than its victory. “I dont think it was momentum,” Sutter said. “It was more once we were down two (goals), I think it was our ability — and were good at that — our ability to stay with it and stick with the game.” That game is showing a few unexpected facets lately. The Kings are now the highest-scoring team in the Stanley Cup playoffs with 3.25 goals per game, a shocking number for a defence-first team that struggled mightily to score for much of the regular season. But the Kings success in Game 2 was due to its usual strengths on defence. Los Angeles defence on Chicagos top scorers was uniformly solid. Anze Kopitar shadowed Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews, who didnt record a shot, while Patrick Kane failed to score a point for the second straight game. The Kings excelled on special teams, killing a two-man Chicago advantage and scoring the tying and go-ahead goals on their own power plays. Los Angeles also dominated the faceoff circle, following up its impressive work late in the second round against Anaheim. “Theyre huge momentum-swingers every time,” Greene said. “A good (penalty-kill) can do wonders for you in terms of momentum, and a good power play. The coaches do a good job emphasizing you dont need to score on the power play. You just need to make sure you build momentum and get a good two minutes going in their zone. Last night, everything was clicking. Those were two huge power-play goals for us there. They really turned around the game in our favour.” Bruising forward Andrew Shaw is expected to be available to the Blackhawks for Game 3 after missing Wednesdays game with a lower-body injury, his seventh straight game out of the lineup. The Kings arent likely to see defenceman Robyn Regehr, whose knee injury has kept him out for eight games. wholesale jerseys china . The young right-hander had quite the answer and helped keep an impressive road pitching streak going for the Tampa Bay Rays. Odorizzi retired the final 10 hitters after allowing a home run, Evan Longoria homered and drove in three runs and the Rays beat the Texas Rangers 6-3 Thursday night. “The guys confident,” manager Joe Maddon said of his 24-year-old pitcher. “Hes swaggering out to the mound, and swaggering back in. The whole group is confident. Theyre not braggish about it, just businesslike in a confident way.” And they have the numbers to back it up, with Odorizzi striking out seven in seven innings to help give the Rays their AL-record 18th consecutive road game without allowing more than three runs. Odorizzi (9-9) was the starter the last time Tampa Bay gave up more than three runs — the last home game before the 10-game trip that just ended with the Rays taking three of four from the Rangers. He gave up five runs in a 7-5 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Aug. 3. Following up six shutout innings in a win at the Chicago Cubs, Odorizzi didnt allow another baserunner after Geovany Sotos first homer of the season to pull the Rangers within 4-2. “Ive been growing a lot since the first part of the season,” Odorizzi said. “I found out a lot about myself.” Jake McGee pitched a perfect ninth for his 13th save in 14 chances, getting the Rays within three games of the major league record for consecutive road games with three runs or fewer allowed held by the 1908 Cubs. Robbie Ross (2-5) came up from Triple-A Round Rock to fill in for Texas ace Yu Darvish, who is sidelined with elbow inflammation. The left-hander gave up six runs in 4 1-3 innings. Ross started the season in the Texas rotation after spending two years as a reliever. He struck out the side in the first but then looked a lot like the pitcher who was sent back to the bullpen in May not long after giving up 30 runs — 233 earned — in 26 2-3 innings over five starts. Adrian Winter Jersey. . “I just started maybe being a little too fine and trying to pick around the zone instead of just going right at them like I was in the beginning,” Ross said. THE TWO-RUN BLOWS Longorias team-leading 15th homer was a two-run shot that gave the Rays a 6-2 lead in the fifth. Logan Forsythe matched a career high with three hits and put the Rays in front to stay with his two-run homer in the second. It came on an 0-2 pitch after Yunel Escobar reached with two outs on an infield hit when third baseman Adrian Beltre barehanded the slow roller but threw wide to first. EFFICIENT RAYS Tampa Bay followed Forsythes go-ahead homer with an efficient third inning that gave the Rays a 4-0 lead. Brandon Guyer stole second with two outs after an earlier single and came home when Longoria hit a soft liner over Elvis Andrus head into left-centre field. After moving up on a wild pitch, Longoria scored on a single by James Loney. TRAINERS ROOM Rays: CF Desmond Jennings (shoulder) wasnt in the lineup for the second game after running into the wall Tuesday. … RF Wil Myers (fractured right wrist) could return from a rehab assignment at Triple-A Durham during next weeks series against Detroit. Rangers: An MRI showed that Darvishs elbow inflammation is not a long-term concern, but theres no timetable for his return. He will miss at least two starts and will resume throwing when the tightness eases. UP NEXT Rays: Tampa Bay goes home to face the New York Yankees in the first of 32 consecutive games against teams currently in playoff contention. RHP Alex Cobb (7-6, 3.41) goes for his sixth straight win, opposing Yankees RHP Brandon McCarthy (4-1, 2.21 with New York). Rangers: RHP Nick Martinez (2-8, 5.22) opens a weekend series against the Los Angeles Angels after snapping a 10-start winless streak by beating Houston his last time out. The Calgary Flames seem to be more comfortable when theyre against the ropes.

CALGARY — The Calgary Flames seem to be more comfortable when theyre against the ropes. Cheap Jerseys China . Joe Colborne capped off a thrilling game, scoring the only goal of the shootout as the Flames overcame a two-goal third period deficit for an improbable 4-3 win over the red-hot St. Louis Blues on Monday. In the shootout, Colborne shot first and beat Jaroslav Halak on a deke for his third goal on four attempts this season. Reto Berra secured the victory in net by denying TJ Oshie, Derek Roy and Magnus Paajarvi. “Weve been doing it all year,” said Colborne. “It seems like when we have a lead going into the third period, were more nervous than we are when we come in and were down.” Flames captain Mark Giordano forced the shootout, dramatically tying the game with five seconds left in the third period. Patrick Berglunds holding penalty gave Calgary a power play for the final 1:37 of the third. Flames coach Bob Hartley added more pop to his offence by pulling Berra, making it a six-on-four situation. The ploy worked as Calgary poured on the pressure. At one point after a slick passing sequence, rookie Sean Monahan — staring at an empty net — had the tying goal roll off his stick. No matter, Hudlers long diagonal pass was one-timed in by Giordano, sending the sell-out crowd of 19,289 into a frenzy. “I was just hoping he saw me because I saw the lane open right up,” Giordano said. “When I saw it coming over and he laid it nice and flat for me. I just obviously tried to get a shot on net and it was a really good feeling to see that one go in for sure.” Hartley likes his teams determination when its behind. “We know the trademark of our team. Credit goes to our players. They never quit,” Hartley said. “We dont want to fall behind but we always feel as a coaching staff that we keep supporting those guys and they always come up with a big goal, a big effort.” After the game Hartley emphasized the importance of heading in to the holiday season on a high note. “This morning, I told them. I know its one game out of 82 but the last game before Christmas, its always special,” said Hartley. “Youre going home, your families will be around and many times they talk to you about your last game. So, for our players, to go back in their families, theyll have plenty to talk about.” Among the conversation starters will be defeating the Blues when they score first as they did — St. Louis entered the night 21-1-2 when that occurs, and when they lead after two periods as they did — they entered the night 16-0-2 in that scenario. The Flames lead the league in one-goal games, the latest being a 4-3 loss to Pittsburgh on Saturday in which a third period comeback came up short. Hudler and Mike Cammalleri also scored for Calgary (14-17-6) on Monday. The win kicked off a five-game homestand for the Flames and also snapped a three-game winless skid. Kevin Shattenkirk, Jaden Schwartz and Paajarvi scored for St. Louis (24-7-5) in regulation. The Blues took three out of four points in Alberta and head home 5-1-2 in their last eight. “Its uncharacteristic but a learning lesson for us,” said Blues captain David Backes. “We played a team tonight that played their butts off and was on an uphill trajectory all game. They got better as the game went on and we plateaued and took out foot off the gas a little bit.” The Blues looked like they had the game well under control when goals 44 seconds apart in the second period from Schwartz and Paajarvi broke open a 1-1 tie and sent St. Louis to the intermission up by two. “Teams in the west will take it to you if you let your foot off the gas and this team is no different. A little credit to them but were going to look inside our room and make sure were better next time we come out,” said Backes. Blues coach Ken Hitchcock spoke only briefly and echoed what his captain said. “We lost composure with the puck. We made some puck errors. We got caught not clearing pucks at the end. We had full control of the hockey game,” said Hitchcock. “We were just winding the game down and made some puck errors and the next thing you know it was in our net.” Berra had 32 saves, while Halak made 26 stops. Notes: Flames centre Matt Stajan left the game late in overtime after a knee-on-knee collision with David Backes, who was penalized for kneeing on the play. There was no update after the game on his condition. … Calgary announced that Curtis Glencross (high ankle sprain), who earlier in the year missed 15 games with a knee injury, will miss eight weeks while D Kris Russell (sprained knee) will miss the next 4-6 weeks. Also out is C Blair Jones (knee, indefinite). That left D Derek Smith as the lone healthy scratch… Taking Russells spot on the Calgary blue-line was Chris Breen…. With Alex Steen (upper body) out for the Blues, 20-year-old Dmitrij Jaskin, recalled from Chicago (AHL), made his season debut and played alongside Oshie and Backes. - Kent Austin knew the question was coming. On Friday, the Hamilton T

HAMILTON, Ont. Xavier Cooper Browns Jersey . — Kent Austin knew the question was coming. On Friday, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats introduced quarterback Zach Collaros, who signed Thursday after being released by the Toronto Argonauts earlier in the week. And the first question put to Austin, the clubs head coach and GM, was if Collaros was the Ticats starter. “Listen, we signed Zach for a reason,” he said. “We believe we have a proven player, a proven starter. “The great thing about Zach is one of the first things he said to me on the phone a couple of days ago was, Coach, I dont expect to be given anything. Ill earn what I get, and thats exactly the type of player we have. “We dont distinguish a lot between starters and backups on this football team. Everybody we require we expect to play at a high level and Zach will have every opportunity to be our guy.” Collaros, 25, posted a 5-2 record as a starter with Toronto last year while subbing for injured starter Ricky Ray. The six-foot-two, 216-pound Collaros completed 190-of-287 passes (66.2 per cent) for 2,316 yards with 14 TDs and six interceptions. He also ran 59 times for 246 yards and scored five TDs. Collaros was scheduled to become a free agent Feb. 15 and Toronto attempted to re-sign him. But with Collaros intent on testing the free-agent waters, the Argos released him early to gain clarity on his situation prior to the start of free agency. Collaros spent two seasons with Toronto, earning a Grey Cup ring in 2012. “I kind of lucked out coming to this league with such a great group around me and I was able to learn a lot of things from them thats translated to the field,” Collaros said of the Argos. “I wouldnt have this opportunity right now if it wasnt for them.” Collaros joins a Hamilton team that reached the 2013 Grey Cup under veteran quarterback Henry Burris before losing 45-23 to the hometown Saskatchewan Roughriders. Like Collaros, Burris was slated to become a free agent next month but was released by the Ticats shortly after Collaross signing. “I know he (Burris) is going to be successful wherever he lands” Austin said. “He was an unbelievable person to coach, player to coach. “I had a great discussion with him (Thursday) and let him know no matter what he does, where he goes football out of football that he has an advocate in this organization and with me personally to help him in any way.” Burris, 38, is a two-time Grey Cup champion (1998, 08), a Grey Cup MVP (08) and in 2010 was the leagues outstanding player. With over 50,000 career passing yards, the 15-year veteran — who is reportedly attracting much interest in Winnipeg — is a sure-fire selection into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame after he retires. But Collaros isnt worrying about following in Burriss footsteps. “Definitely some expectations there,” he said. “I think we all know Henry Burris is a Hall of Fame player in this league. “I cant think about things like that. I had to fill in for Ricky Ray last year and I didnt think about it. I just went about my work during the week and prepared and we were fortunate enough to win a lot of games and it got me this opportunity. If I think about that, its going to hinder me.” Collaros helped break the hearts of Ticats fans to finish the 2012 regular season, calmly marching the Argos downfield late to set up Swayze Waters 51-yard field goal for a wild 43-30 home victory. That loss eliminated Hamilton from post-season contention. Austin said there were many reasons why he courted Collaros, not the least of which was being coached by Milanovich in Toronto. “I have a great deal of respect for Scott, I think Scott is an outstanding coach,” Austin said. “Im familiar with the system he runs and how diligent they are in their preparation. “He (Collaros) comes from a background of a heavy dose of preparation, not just with Scott but throughout his career. That was a key attribute that we value very highly here.” And there was also Collaros ability to lead Toronto to four key September road victories with Ray sidelined. “I think its very important to try to determine the quality of the player especially in tough situations,” Austin said. “That was about as tough a situation I think as probably any quarterback faced last year with the starting guy going down and then going on the road. “Being able to quarterback your football team to those victories proves hes a winner and hes proven it in tough situations.” Collaros wore No. 17 in Toronto but will don No. 4 with Hamilton. “Im the kind of guy whos going to pay the price during the week and in the off-season so that the results do come on the field,” Collaros said. “Do I want to be a starter? Do I think I can be a starter? Obviously. “I thought that two years ago when I got to Toronto and Ricky Ray was there. Thats just my personality. Im just anxious to get to practice and really just to get up here and learn from the staff.” Joe Thomas Youth Jersey . GAINESVILLE, Fla. — No. 3 Florida has won with defence most of the season. The Gators showed Saturday they can pull out games on the other end of the court, too. Scottie Wilbekin scored 16 points, leading all five starters in double figures, and Florida beat Alabama 78-69 for its 15th straight victory. The Gators handled the Tide for the second time in 16 days and extended a school record for consecutive home wins to 29. “If you play defence the way we did tonight, youre not going to win,” coach Billy Donovan said. “Thank God we had some offence today that helped us.” Florida (21-2, 10-0 Southeastern Conference) shot a blistering 62 per cent from the field and finished with a season-high 22 assists. The Gators trailed by seven late in the first half before taking over the game in the paint and in transition. That opened things up on the perimeter for Wilbekin and Michael Frazier II. Wilbekin was 3-for-5 shooting from behind the arc, making all three in the second half. Frazier was 3 for 8 from the 3-point range. Frazier finished with 14 points, joining Wilbekin, Casey Prather (15), Will Yeguete (12) and Patric Young (11) in double figures. It was the first time all five of Floridas starters topped 10 points since Nov. 21 against Middle Tennessee. “We have a balanced team, and anyone can beat you on any given night,” Prather said. Prather, the teams leading scorer, failed to reach double figures the last two games while dealing with a sprained left ankle. He returned to form against Alabama even though Donovan wasnt sure he would play a few hours before the tip. Donovan gave Prather the option of playing or resting, and he chose to give it a go. “Its got nothing to do with him not being a tough kid or he cant play through pain,” Donovan said. “It gets more into the fact that he doesnt feel confidence-wise that hes capable of doing the things he knows he can do. When he gets to that place, he really gets mentally taken out because he knows he cant do certain things. “When he knows he can do things physically, it adds to his confidence. Justin Gilbert Womens Jersey. When he cant move like he wants to move, I think he knows hes putting our team in jeopardy, and that eats him alive and kills him.” Trevor Releford led the Tide (9-14, 3-7) with 25 points on 7-for-10 shooting. He was 4 for 6 from behind the 3-point line and perfect on seven free throws. Releford scored 16 points in the first half, carrying Alabama for much of the afternoon. His 3-pointer put the Tide up 28-21, silencing the sold-out OConnell Center. Alabama shot 61 per cent in the opening half and went 5 for 7 from behind the arc, giving the defensive-minded Donovan plenty to talk about at halftime. The Gators responded with an effective press, made 3-pointers and a heavy dose of post play that seemingly wore down the Tide. “Theyre at their best when theyre in transition,” Tide coach Anthony Grant said. “From an offensive standpoint, they took us out of some things that we were able to get there in the first half.” Florida went on a 25-8 run that turned a deficit into a double-digit lead. The Tide ended up losing its four straight and sixth in the last seven games. “This program cant do anything but go up,” Releford said. “Its just a process. Right now were losing a game, but I feel as a team were getting better and Coach is helping us with that.” Chris Walker, Floridas highly touted freshman who became eligible this week, played just 4 minutes in his second collegiate game. He finished with four points, two fouls and a rebound. Donovan said he hopes to get Walker more playing time. For as dominant as Florida has been recently, the teams toughest test comes next week. The Gators play at Tennessee on Tuesday night and then at No. 18 Kentucky on Saturday. Those games could go a long way to determining how Florida finishes in the conference and what kind of seed it gets in next months NCAA tournament. “I dont think we played great,” Yeguete said. “We got it done, but we didnt play great. We know weve got to do a better job if we want to win in Knoxville on Tuesday.” Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys ‘ ‘ ‘

All that quarterback uncertainty has stifled the Philadelphia Eagles

PHILADELPHIA – All that quarterback uncertainty has stifled the Philadelphia Eagles offence. Ruben Amorim Jersey . Michael Vicks return from a hamstring injury lasted less than a half, and coach Chip Kelly doesnt expect him to play at Oakland (3-4) next Sunday. Nick Foles took the ImPACT test on Monday, a first step toward returning from a concussion. But Kelly didnt have the results, so his status is day to day. That leaves Matt Barkley. The rookie has been the last QB standing the last two games for Philadelphia (3-5). Thats the positive for him. On the other hand, the Eagles have no points with Barkley under centre. Then again, its not just his fault. They managed only one field goal with Foles and Vick playing almost five quarters combined in losses to Dallas and the New York Giants. “Its not all on the quarterback,” Kelly said Monday. “Its on all of us. We have to do a better job as a total group. I have confidence in the group. Its the same group for six games we were on track to set records. Were not going to do something new. We have to settle down and our playmakers have to make plays.” Kellys up-tempo, hurry-up offence was on pace to set franchise records and much more after six games. The Eagles racked up at least 425 yards total offence in each of the first six games and averaged 27.7 points. But they combined for just 379 yards and 3 offensive points the last two weeks. LeSean McCoy, who leads the NFL with 733 yards rushing, had only 103 yards on 33 carries in the two losses. DeSean Jackson had only 11 catches for 84 yards in those games. So if their down to their No, 3 quarterback, other players have to step up, right? Well, theyre not. “It starts with me,” McCoy said. “I feel like, coming into the game, we want to establish the run. Teams know that. I have to get out there and get it going. This offence has to do better, starting with myself.” Barkley entered the game in tough spots two straight weeks. The Eagles trailed the Cowboys 17-3 when he replaced Foles in the fourth quarter last week. They were down 12-0 to the Giants when he took over for Vick in Sundays 15-7 loss. He threw interceptions on all three series against Dallas, and had two more turnovers in his seven drives vs. the Giants. Barkleys best series was his first against New York. He drove the Eagles from their 20 to the 2 before losing a fumble on first down. Kelly said Barkley shouldve thrown the ball away because both receivers were covered on the play. Instead, Barkley rolled out and ended up getting sacked and losing the ball. “You just have to remind yourself one play at a time,” Barkley said. “Youre not going to win the game with one play. Its definitely different then starting from scratch, being 0-0 from opening kickoff. But I dont want to make that excuse for how we performed as an offence. We have a lot of things to correct across the board and it always starts with the quarterback, so we will watch this tape and see what needs to be fixed.” Selected with the first pick in the fourth round of the draft, Barkley was a standout at Southern California. He rewrote the conference record book during a USC-record 47 starts over four seasons, becoming the Pac-12s leader in touchdown passes, yards passing, completions and total offence. But there are no easy opponents in the NFL. “Im just going to compete and see what happens with this week,” Barkley said. “My confidence is not down. Its a tough loss and you hate to see that happen but Im not beating myself up. You look at those plays and replay some of them thinking what you could have done better, but you move on and we will see what happens this week but again I will prepare like I am starting.” If Foles isnt cleared to play against the Raiders, the Eagles could add another quarterback. G.J. Kinne, who spent training camp with the team, was signed to the practice squad last week. Kinne, the former Tulsa starter, hasnt thrown a pass in the NFL, and Kelly views him as an all-around athlete for help in practice. Kyle Korver scored 12 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter to help Atlanta beat the Milwaukee Bucks 102-97 Thursday night for the Hawks first back-to-back victories in nearly six weeks. The Hawks (28-35) expanded their lead over the surging Knicks (26-40) for the No. 8 and final playoff spot in the East to 3 1/2 games. Their victory over the team with the worst record in the NBA followed Mondays 104-102 victory over Utah, the team with the worst record in the Western Conference. Like the Bucks (13-52), the Hawks entered the game having lost 14 of 16, and their first home game after a six-game road trip had an odd feel. “The last two havent been pretty, but theyre wins and its two in a row so were going to try to build on that,” said Korver, who was 4 for 4 from the foul line and 3 for 4 from the field in the final period, including 2 for 3 on 3-pointers. “The first game back after a (long) road trip is notoriously a trap game, and I think we fell for it a bit in the first half and didnt come out with the right energy and focus, at least I didnt.” Korvers backcourt mate, Jeff Teague, scored 22 points with eight in a final period that saw 12 lead changes and four ties. The Hawks took the lead for good when Korvers 3-pointer gave them a 90-89 edge with 2:15 left. That came moments after Korver missed from long distance, and reserve centre Elton Brand grabbed the rebound and fired it back to the sharpshooter. That play more than any ruined the Atlanta homecoming of Bucks coach Larry Drew, who was the Hawks head coach from 2010-13. He was not asked to return for the final season of his contract, although Atlanta never officially fired him. “If we come up with that rebound were not in that position,” Drew said. “You cant leave a guy like that that open. Or even put him in that position, because Kyle is, if not the best shooter, hes one of the top three in our league.” Korvers 3 triggered a 9-0 run that waas punctuated by Teagues thunderous dunk with 27 second remaining for a 96-89 lead. Luis Neto Portugal Jersey. Ersan Ilyasova had 22 points and 10 rebounds for Milwaukee, and guard Brandon Knight added 20 points. Every Atlanta starter, even centre Pero Antic, made at least one 3-pointer. The Hawks were 13 for 29 from beyond the arc. Milwaukee had just eight turnovers and a modest 43-41 rebounding edge, but went 3 for 19 on 3-point attempts. Trailing 53-47 at halftime, the Hawks took a 68-67 lead by closing the third quarter with a 9-0 run during which they made four straight shots. Milwaukee shot 4 for 21 in the period, and scored one point over the final 4:08 of a 14-point quarter. “Our defence picked us up and allowed us to get back in the game,” Atlanta coach Mike Budenholzer said. “We keep talking about being better defensively, and at some point weve got to carry it over to the court.” Both teams found energy in the final quarter, when the Hawks outscored the Bucks 34-30. Teague, who pitched in eight assists but also committed seven turnovers, was happy with the win because, he said, “Nobody is bad in the NBA. On any given night, anybody can beat anybody.” Budenholzer was more mindful of Atlantas opponent. He did not consider his team to be back on track. “No; not really. I think were going to have to play a whole lot better than this going forward,” Budenholzer said. “Wins are important … but I dont think anybody thinks were settled.” NOTES: Hawks centre Al Horford, who has been out since tearing his right pectoral muscle Dec. 26 in an overtime win at Cleveland, said he will not return to play this seven even if Atlanta makes the playoffs. He returned after suffering a similar injury to his left pectoral in 2011-12. “No. I think it would be hard. This injury, honestly, was a little more severe than the other one,” he explained in his first meeting with reporters since the injury. “And its my right side, shooting arm, and I need to feel 100 per cent confident with it, so I think its going to be a little bit slower.” Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys ‘ ‘ ‘

Once the new year rolled around, Ned Yost turned his

KANSAS CITY, Mo. Cheap Jerseys . – Once the new year rolled around, Ned Yost turned his attention to the upcoming season, the new pieces that the Kansas City Royals brought in and the possibilities for new lineups. He made the prospect of a contract extension seem almost like an afterthought.I think were in great shape headed into this year, Yost said Tuesday, shortly after the club announced their managers one-year boost through the 2016 season. We came as close as you can to winning a world championship last year, he said, and when you dont do it, it leaves a taste in your mouth. Its something you strive to do, and I think everyone in that locker room will tell you they want to finish this thing off.Yost became the Royals manager in May 2010 and presided over a massive rebuilding effort that culminated with the end of a 29-year playoff drought this past season. The Royals took San Francisco to the seventh game of the World Series, leaving the tying run on third base with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning, before their season finally ended. With most of the major pieces of that team back, combined with free-agent acquisitions such as Alex Rios, Kendrys Morales and Edinson Volquez, hopes in Kansas City are higher than ever that the long-downtrodden franchise will be able to compete for the post-season again. As we all know, baseball is a very tough business, Royals general manager Dayton Moore said. Youre always striving for organizational harmony, and we have our key leaders — in this case the manager — signed through the next two years, it helps to create that harmony. The longest-tenured manager in club history, Yost will soon become its winningest. He already has 373 victories, trailing only Dick Howser (404) and Whitey Herzog (410), and should eclipse two of the franchises iconic names by the time summer rolls around.Yosts contract was due to expire after the upcoming season, but there was little question that he would receive an extension. He has a close relationship with Moore dating to their days in the Braves organization, and Yosts ability to guide a young and unproven lineup to its first AL pennant since the Reagan administration only strengthened his organizational standing. Not everything has gone perfectly for Yost, of course. He has often been lampooned for his in-game adjustments, including a questionable decision to use starter Yordano Ventura out of the bullpen in the playoffs. And his often-surly nature, which has seemed to mellow with time, has drawn the ire of some longtime Royals fans.He came to our organization in a point in time when we needed to be re-energized, and Ned brought a lot of hope and optimism, Moore said. Those are the character traits that we believe are very important for a successful major league manager.Yost said hes been busier this off-season than ever, doing appearances and events just about every weekend since the season ended. But even as he sat in a deer stand on Tuesday, waiting for something worth shooting to amble by, his thoughts were already on the upcoming season.I go back and I look at the World Series and theres not much I would have done different, Yost said. I feel like we were in every single game. You look at the matchups we had, the situations that ended up costing us, they were all matchups we wanted. … They just didnt work out. But you still have that taste, you know? You were that close to winning the World Series. Cheap NFL Jerseys . Cheap Jerseys From China .com) – The Oklahoma City Thunder and Memphis Grizzlies will play a decisive Game 7 Saturday night at Chesapeake Energy Arena for the right to move on in the Western Conference playoffs.TORONTO – Carl Gunnarsson managed one additional shift of 51 seconds after separating his left shoulder. “I was pissed off,” he explained. “I was mad at myself for letting [myself] get injured; I didnt protect myself the way I should have. I just wanted to go out there and keep playing, but it turned out I couldnt do it.” The 25-year-old is done for the season after being crunched by Sabres forward Marcus Foligno in the opening seconds of the Leafs 6-5 overtime loss in Buffalo on Tuesday night. Gunnarsson will require four to six weeks for recovery, ending his third NHL season while making a return trip to the upcoming World Championships – which take place in his native Sweden and Finland in May – unlikely. Gunnarsson was admittedly upset about the play in question because he felt the collision was avoidable. He noted seeing the six-foot-two, 215-pound Foligno charging in on around the goal, but took an extra split second to make a play, alllowing the Sabres 20-year-old to deliver the thunderous hit. Cheap Jerseys China. “Situations similar to that happen a lot during the season,” he said. “That was just a bad move by me. I usually come out of it in a good way, try to spin off the guy and take the hit in the right way, but this time I didnt do it and Ive got to pay for it.” Surgery was ruled out after the game, but Gunnarsson will visit with doctors on Wednesday afternoon for further evaluation. A member of Team Sweden at the past three World Championships, he was hopeful but not optimistic about a return trip in May. “Well see what the management says,” he said of the Worlds, “if they want me [on] the team, if theyre willing to take a chance, depending on how long its going to take for it to heal so I have no idea.” Joining Dion Phaneuf on the Leafs top defensive pairing, Gunnarsson averaged nearly 22 minutes a night, totaling five goals, 19 points and a minus-9 rating. There were no large crowds around him and, for early October, the south of England was beautifully warmer than anyone expected. This was a much simpler time. A time when sports stars had to make their way through some of the public areas to get to speak to the awaiting media, but they were able to do so without being mobbed. Each year, the winner of the pole position for the Grand Prix, on the Saturday, was required to make the journey behind the public grandstands on the front straight. In a few years, more and more professional autograph hunters would put a stop to such a simple passage and not much long after the entire complex was seen as being way below par to host a Grand Prix. But on this day, October 5, 1985, Brands Hatch circuit was the centre of the Formula One universe. The next day Alain Prost would become World Champion for the first time but today was all about that gorgeous black Lotus-Renault that popped and demanded your attention thanks to the yellow helmet belonging to a star in the making, 25-year-old driver, Ayrton Senna. Already it was plain to see that the young Brazilian was remarkable on a fast qualifying lap and an hour or so earlier he had taken his sixth pole position of the season. The boy waited to see if he could get a glimpse. And then he appeared, in his civvies, and just like that he was gone. In between he had taken a second to write his autograph in the book held tightly by the young fan. The next day the boy and his father stood on the final turn of Brands Hatch and watched with their very eyes as Senna, leading the race, collided with the Williams car of Keke Rosberg while battling for the lead. The crash, which for an added bonus knocked the easily unlikeable Nelson Piquet out of the race, forced Rosberg into the pits. When he returned he did so right in front of Senna and the charging Englishman Nigel Mansell. It was the kind of plot a moviemaker would think up, yet this was really developing in front of the eyes of stunned seven-year-old. An incensed Rosberg held Senna up, Mansell saw his moment and overtook the Brazilian. The crowd erupted immediately, like a football stadium reacting to a late goal. Mansell would go on to win his first-ever Grand Prix, joined by Senna and Rosberg on the podium. The boy was hooked. These days it will take you less than five seconds on Google to find an article preaching to its readers to not make a sports star your hero. One of the biggest issues surrounding this notion is that it is being told to you by an adult who has grown to know no one is perfect and feels the need to protect people from being let down. Children dont have much of a voice when it comes to adults but they certainly can teach us a thing or two about the innocent beauty of admiring a sports star for what he/she does in their chosen field, regardless of what they are like otherwise. That day, back in 1985, the seven-year-old boy who cried when the race was over, and spent the five-hour car ride home with his mind full of race cars driven by gladiatorial figures, didnt have a platform to write about what those drivers meant to him. Today, he does. I still have that autograph, now proudly placed in a frame beneath a painting of Sennas first win in Portugal, achieved in that gorgeous black Lotus. When I glance at it, I am reminded of that weekend in 1985. As we made the journey north towards home I didnt do it as an Ayrton Senna fan, after all, an Englishman had captured the hearts of thousands, completing a rags-to-riches story by winning his first ever Grand Prix. I was a Nigel Mansell fan. However, the beauty of youth and the sport, meant I could be much more than just that. This was not like football where you were taught to love one and despise all others. Grand Prix racers, with the exception of Mansells nemesis in Piquet, were to be admired and as the years went on, even during epic Senna-Mansell rivalry seasons, I feasted on the epic greatness from both. Id witness Mansell winning the British Grand Prix in 1986 and 1987 and in 1991 I was on the track when he drove by with Senna, hanging on his car as a passenger after retiring late in the race. Charlie Lyon Sounders Jersey. By then I was old enough to know Senna was better than Mansell and that was what made his victories even sweeter; knowing he had beaten the ultimate standard set by the greatest racing driver I had ever seen. Id watched from my couch, in the middle of the night, Sennas titanic tussles with Prost in Japan when the pair clashed for the 1989 and 1990 World Championships. The drama was incredible and the plots main character, Senna, was an enormous figure in my life. I never missed a race and the sport back then gave me memories to last a lifetime. The way my dad talked about Muhammad Ali-Joe Frazier to me is how I can talk about Senna-Prost to my children. Id eventually hear the Brazilian anthem played for Senna at a Grand Prix in Belgium in 1991, the day Michael Schumacher made his first career start, but nothing came close to what I saw in 1993. This time the weather was far from nice. It was absolutely awful, in fact. We were no longer in the south either. My familys love for the sport had taken us to Donington Park, in Derbyshire, in early April. Remarkably, the crowd was very low, with the nation suffering an F1 hangover from Mansell packing his bags for Indycar. Those lucky enough to get absolutely drenched that day witnessed true greatness. Senna would win 41 Grand Prix races but his best happened that day as his McLaren danced in unison with the rain at the European Grand Prix. It is hard to put into words what he did, just watch his opening lap on Youtube and see for yourself. The rain master obliterated the field that day giving the fans and his rivals a lesson in perfection, every single lap. It was what all sports fans crave. Its one thing to witness a group of sports stars doing something we could never dream of, but it is quite something else to see someone take that standard to another level. To this day when I think of Senna I think of Donington Park for two reasons. I was there the day he won that race and I was there on May 1, 1994 when we lost him for good. That day he was in Italy for the San Marino Grand Prix, where ten years earlier I had been to see a race, the only one in Sennas career he failed to qualify for. A decade on he had different troubles. Troubles with his new Williams car and troubles with the sports safety after witnessing brutal, violent accidents on the Friday and Saturday of that race weekend. Young Rubens Barrichello survived his on Friday, Roland Ratzenberger wasnt so fortunate on Saturday afternoon, becoming the first F1 driver to be killed at a Grand Prix in 12 years. Id heard of his death on Saturday night on the new BBC Radio Five Live station and remember to this day how they teased it with Formula One loses its first driver since 1982, coming up well tell you who. I sat alone terrified, waiting for the answer. I was sixteen now but had been fortunate enough to watch these incredible men drive these amazing machines without ever getting the news that all motorsport fans fear. They were immortals, to me, true heroes inside their helmets guiding rocketships on wheels and leaving you with the most wonderful sound as they blasted by. I was part of the lucky generation. My dad, who had gotten me into the sport, had watched many of his favourites perish in years gone by but, for kids like me, we never faced such heartache. Until that weekend in 1994. That night I did what many teenagers in England did on Sundays – I listened to the Top 40 charts. Each song that came on provided background music to the career of Ayrton Senna da Silva that played out on my mind. I was overwhelmed by many different feelings, sadness being one of the main ones, of course, but, to this day, I remember the strongest emotion of all was pure disbelief. I kept wondering in mind, over and over, what it was going to be like to go to a Grand Prix without him being there. Twenty years on, the answer I got that night remains the same. The truth was it was never, ever the same. I had watched true greatness at a time when I was allowed heroes. After that, nothing could come close. DUNEDIN, Fla. — Given a day to prepare, prized Houston infield prospect Carlos Correa delivered in a big way. Told that he would start, the 19-year-old Correa hit his first two home runs of spring training and led the Astros over the Toronto Blue Jays 7-5 Thursday. Manager Bo Porter told Correa, the overall No. 1 pick in the 2012 draft, on Wednesday night that he would be in the lineup. “A lot of time with young players, youll go up to them and tell them that, because you kind of want to see how theyre going to respond,” Porter said. “And he responded the way you would want your player to respond.” “The way he performed today was pretty impressive,” he said. Correa and Jon Singleton connected off Blue Jays starter Esmil Rogers for back-to-back homers in the third inning. Correa connected again in the eighth, hitting a two-run drive to centre field off Neil Wagner. “I was just focused,” Correa said. “He told me I was going to start today.” “I came out here with the mentality to play hard, play the game the right way and do my best all the time on the field,” the shortstop said. Porter said while Correa still has room for improvement, his work ethic has been outstanding. “Hes a focused individual,” Porter said. “Hes one of the first ones to the ballpark, hes the last one to leave. His attention to detail is mature for his age, but thats why he plays the game at the speed he plays it — because hes confident.” Astros starter Dallas Keuchel yielded six hits and struck out two in four scoreless innings. The left-hander, who was 6-10 with a 5.15 ERA last season, has not allowed a run in three starts this spring. Anthony Gose finished 2 for 2 with a triple and double, and scored three runs for Toronto. Edwin Encarnacion, Adam Lind, Melky Cabrera and Dan Johnson also doubled for the Blue Jays. STARTING TIME Blue Jays: Rogers, a candidate for the fifth spot in Torontos rotation, allowed four earned runs, walked two and struck out six in three innings. Rogers struggled with command of his changeup, which led to Singletons home run. “The only way I can get better is when I pitch and throw the changeup,” he said. “I just have to make my pitches and work a little bit more out of the stretch and try to get my command out of the stretch because Im a little quick when I have runners on base.” Astros: Keuchel said throwing against high wind gusts was tough, but he was happy to keep solid command on all of his pitches. “Always got to be a little happy with throwing up some zeros, but that wind was kind of a challenge there in the first inning,” he said.Wholesale Jerseys China. “You know, Im warming up in the bullpen and always getting loose and you never know how the wind is going to respond. But I think I had a little bit more movement on my two-seam and my changeup, so that was kind of nice,” he said. TRAINERS ROOM Blue Jays: Manager John Gibbons said left-handed starter J.A. Happ (sore back) is scheduled to throw three innings in a minor league game on Friday in Dunedin. Astros: Top pitching prospect Mark Appel could make his first appearance of the spring next week. Appel, the first overall selection by Houston in last years amateur draft, underwent an appendectomy in January. Porter said reliever Jesse Crain (right biceps surgery) is continuing to make progress in the organizations training program and his arm strength is increasing. The right-hander had an 0.74 ERA in 36 2-3 innings with the Chicago White Sox last season. He was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays in July, but did not pitch because of the injury. RIGHT ON Porter said L.J. Hoes is still in the mix for the starting spot in right field despite a hip injury early in camp. George Springer, Marc Krauss and J.D. Martinez also are in contention. Porter said Hoes, acquired from the Baltimore Orioles at the trade deadline last season for right-handed starter Bud Norris, played well enough down the stretch to get a look this spring. “Hes got about two weeks to get ready for opening day,” Porter said. “L.J. is a guy thats always gotten on base (and) has great minor league numbers. He came here last year and was a great asset to our ballclub the second half of the season and we believe hes going to be able to help us a lot this year.” Hoes started in left field against the Blue Jays. He began a relay in the first that nabbed Jose Bautista at the plate when the slugger attempted to score from first base on a double by Edwin Encarnacion. MELKMAN IN THE MIDDLE? Blue Jays outfielder Melky Cabrera could see time in centre field during the regular season now that he has fully recovered from complications stemming from a benign tumour, which was removed from his lower back last September. Gibbons said he will probably only use Cabrera there against a tough left-hander, or if Colby Rasmus needs a day off. “Thats where he played today and he played there in Lakeland the other day and did a nice job,” Gibbons said. “He only got a couple balls, but hes done it before. When he came up with the Yankees, he played centre field and he played it in Kansas City and played it very well.” Cheap Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Wholesale Jerseys Wholesale NFL Jerseys Wholesale Jerseys ‘ ‘ ‘
